321 stainless steel tubing is CNC mandrel bent and precision welded to perfection. This eliminates the need for a flex joint, which is a major weakness in other up pipes including the OEM one.
The PERRIN Up-Pipe inside diameter best matches the OEM exhaust manifold outlet and OEM turbo inlet. This is critical to maintaining exhaust gas velocity increasing turbo spool up. Typically we see 250-350 RPM quicker turbo spool up after installation. For a stock turbo, the 1.75" Up-Pipe is the perfect choice for spool and HP. PERRIN Flanges are CNC machined from 304 stainless steel, 1/2" thick and counterbored on the back side to make a smooth transitions from cylinder head to exhaust tubing.

We will not warranty any exhaust part that fails or has warped flanges with header wrap installed. We will not warranty any exhaust part that fails or has warped flanges with header wrap installed. While header wrap protects the engine from heat as well as provides some performance benefits, it greatly reduces the life of any stainless steel part. Header wrap greatly increases the rate of corrosion (even stainless steel corrodes), added to that the actual temperature of the metal is much hotter, reducing its lifespan even further. Operation of vehicle without installation of splash guard will void warranty.
We will not warranty any flanges that are warped away from the weld if any aftermarket gaskets are used. Only OEM Subaru gaskets are to be used on this PERRIN Exhaust part, with the exception of downpipes for turbo kits. Subaru provides the proper crush gasket that still becomes flat when tightened (or over tightened) in comparison to aftermarket gaskets which can have a crush ring that is too think causing a hot-spot in the middle of the flange. These will warp the flanges of your PERRIN exhaust, causing a permanent exhaust leak that will not be fixable with a new gasket.

STI Up-Pipe Test
The first and only back to back dyno runs of an Up Pipe are what you are seeing. During one of our many dyno testing days, we decided to test the PERRIN uppipe on a Stage 2 STI. Most people don't normally replace the OEM up pipe on the STI or other cars with catless up pipes, but we did! We were very surprised with how this performed, as we didn't think we would get much power. Basically we gained 10WHP and 10ft-lbs of TQ across the board, and this was with ZERO ECU retuning done. On the 02-05 WRX(where the uppipe is catted) there is roughly 20WHP gained by replacing the OEM part with ours.
